Researchers investigated the use of self-adjusting computation for computing with dynamically changing live, big data. They implemented a single node, self-adjusting version of the MapReduce system using “our approach based on implicit programming with type annotations, and presented experimental results that show that the self-adjusting version is about 500-fold faster than (non-self-adjusting) MapReduce.”
